The Martian Chronicles and Ray Bradbury

Ray Bradbury (1921-2012)
Ray Bradbury died Tuesday night in Los Angeles at the age of 91.

Part of being an Indie Writer is learning the craft of writing and one way we can do that is by reading the great authors who have come before us.  Ray Bradbury was one of those authors.  He was a legendary science fiction author with such titles as “The Martian Chronicles” and “Fahrenheit 451.”
With my recent posts about Colonizing Mars who better to dedicate my Blog Post today to than the author of “The Martian Chronicles.”  The Martian Chronicles was a story about man’s attempt to colonize Mars after a massive nuclear war on Earth.
Several of Bradbury’s works became movies and even more became television shows.  Some adaptations of Bradbury’s tales appeared on episodes of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”, “The Twilight Zone”, and even his own cable series, “Ray Bradbury Theater.”
He was an award winning author who began his career in 1938.  He became a full time author in 1943 and published “The Martian Chronicles” in 1950, and “Fahrenheit 451” in 1953.
I feel it is partly up to current authors to pay homage where due to the greats who paved the way for us by writing the foundation works in their particular genres.  Science Fiction wouldn’t be what it is today without the tremendous contributions of this talented author.
